Creative Crafts Council Show in 2013

CCCThis is the year for the Creative Crafts Council bienniel show.  The show, held at the Mansion at Strathmore, will be open for the general public to purchase items on display from May 4 through June 15.  While the show is a ways off, the online application for jurying will be held in February.  (Sorry, no details yet.)  So, if you don’t already have your entry ready, you are hereby notified that time is getting short.

The Creative Crafts Council (CCC) was established in 1955, and this will be the 29th bienniel show.   The Council represents eight regional fine craft guilds (including NEG) which have member artists living in the greater Washington DC area working in ceramics, enamel, glass, fiber, metals, mixed media, polymer clay and wood.  The CCC sponsors juried exhibitions every other year and fundraising auctions in the alternate year.   All work in the juried show is available for purchase.  Extraordinary pieces of fine contemporary craft will be on display, and the 2013 CCC Show is a place you will be proud to show your work.

It would be very exciting to see a strong showing of enamel pieces in this year’s show…let them know NEG has aroused from a deep slumber!  Cash prize awards will be presented at the opening night party, so to spice things up NEG will sponsor a $150 award for Best Enamel 2013 and 3 awards of $25 each for Outstanding Enamel 2013.  Now that’s something to feel warm and fuzzy about, and something nice to add to the resume.
